Who is datasophos ?
Joshua A. Taillon, Ph.D.
Josh is a data scientist and software engineer with a firm academic foundation in materials science. He performed his Ph.D. work in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Maryland, where he devised novel approaches to data analysis in analytical electron and ion beam microscopy. He then spent 9 years at NIST as a data science and engineering leader, publishing multiple peer-reviewed works on modernizing data management in complex research environments.
After leaving NIST, Josh founded datasophos in 2025 as a way to provide clients a way to access his expertise in more formal relationships. With datasophos , he helps clients navigate the open source landscape and builds custom solutions for their unique needs.
